Practical information

Where is it?

The event takes place in the holiday village of the CNRS  "La Vieille Perrotine", on the island Oléron. Participants shall be accomodated in single or double rooms in bungalows. Each bungalow has two such rooms and shared bathroom and kitchen. The bungalows are spreaded through a park. There is a tennis court, a swimming pool, a playground for childrens, a beach withing 100 meters etc., so that you can easily come with your family. The lecture room and the restaurant are located on the central island of the village, where is also available a WIFI connection (not in bungalows).

How to get there?

The best way to come is to go to the city of La Rochelle (4h by train from Paris Montparnasse, with a direct bus to Paris airports (75 minutes to CDG, 45 minutes to ORY) , some direct flights, e.g., from Geneva, London or Lyon). There, a boat can bring you in 50 minutes right near to the holiday village (ATTENTION: the boat does not work each day, check timetables). In La Rochelle, you need about 15 minutes to go from the railway station to the boat (when you exit the station, go through the park on your left, pass along the aquarium, cross the pedestrian brigde and follow the bank on your right until the pier - see map below). The ticket can be purchased right on the boat. See also here for more informations.

When the boat arrives at Boyardville, there is a nice 2km walk through the oyster village Fort Royer. If you arrive by the sunday evening boat we shall pick up you at the pier (we have a car for luggages and people who may have difficulties walking). If you arrive with another boat, please contact us before to arrange your venue.

Alternatively, a bus between La Rochelle and Dolus d'Oléron (which is however 6km far from the conference place - contact us to arrange something) which takes about 80 minutes. From La Rochelle (train station) to Oléron départure at 13:45 and 18:35 every days, and from Oléron to La Rochelle at 9h35 and 12h45 (see timetables - on sunday it is better to book in advance).

There is also a bus from Surgères to Dolus d'Oléron, which takes about 90 minutes but is more frequent (see timetables). There are train to Surgeres from Paris (3h30). If you come from Bordeaux then stops at Rochefort where you can catch the same bus.

You can also come by car since there is a toll system bridge (8 euros in and out).

Ask us if you have difficulty to plane your journey!
